AutoEthnographic Research/ DA

In order to effectively conduct this autoethnograpy it is more than essential to analyse my own personal experience as a content creator.

As a part of my research plan, I have dedicated half of the auto-ethnographic research to the process of creating dance videos which will allow for the comparison and similarity deconstruction as research progresses. In order to achieve this I produced an online presence which will allow me to detail my personal experiences whilst also maintaining the aspect of influencer lifestyle

As the conductor of this research, I completed a questionnaire in order to achieve consistency and in order to gain a narrated insight on my experience. I found myself getting quite nostalgic as I remember the days where I used to train professionally as a ballroom/Latin Dancer.

1. How long have you danced for?

For more than 10 years

2. What is your first distinctive dance memory?

Competing in a local hall in Sans Souci in front of members of the community

3. What is your favourite memory while dancing?

The getting ready stage where I’d put on makeup and take photos as well as the anticipation to go on stage.

4. What is your MOST RECENT memory about dance?

I had the amazing opportunity to choreograph a dance routine for younger students and it’s something I’ll never forget as it was foundational in the aspect of my goals.

5. Do you intend to continue dance?

As i get older, dancing isn’t as easy as it used to be, especially with new school and work curriculums, it makes it harder to find time as well as the energy to stay motivated and consistent. But with that being said, I will never stop trying to involve myself in dance.

6. Do you consume dance content?

Yes.

7. How does it feel to see this content?

Its very nostalgic but at the same time new and fresh in some aspects because obviously the styles have changed and evolved.

9. How does dance make you feel?

Personally, I feel less pressure and it gives me a confidence boost because even though I may get the choreography wrong (a lot!) I laugh and make it a fun experience! It also challenges me to express yourself in a new environment. Everyone involved becomes your support and you become their’s.

10. What are the physical impacts of dance on you?

Dancing shifts my minds focus. It helps me to tune out and take a step back from the daily rise and grind. It’s an uncomplicated happiness that improves me spatial awareness and is the best way to end my day.

11. What does dance mean to you?

To me, the gift of dance is having the opportunity to be able to pursue expression and beauty through movement and imagination.

Video : How to Effectively Stretch Before Dance

Category: Educational Purposes

Description : Stretching is key to improving your ability as a dancer.  Stretching has many benefits including flexibility, stronger technique, improved lines and range of motion, muscle awareness and injury prevention.  Stretching is just as important as daily exercise for all ages.  It helps blood flow to the muscles and cartilage and helps to relax us. Stretching creates long lean muscles required for dancers and athletes.  Stretching helps muscles to be more pliable. This is why for this week’s video, I released a educational tutorial for potential viewers to follow if they decide to participate in any aspects of dance.

Description : Popularity on the app is often based on the inventiveness, skill, and entertainment value of the original dance routines created by users. Every so often a dance routine becomes a viral hit, and other users of the platform post their own versions copying the original user.I have taken it upon myself to insert a compilation of me doing my favourite ones and I’ve shared my experience along the way.

Video : My Experience As A Professional Ballroom/Latin Dancer

Category: Personal Experience

Description : My dance experience trails back to when I was just a toddler, getting involved in some classes at my local dance studio. Immediately, I fell in love with this art form and knew I wanted to carry it with me beyond high school. I began dancing as a hobby and soon transitioned to professionally. While I am only just beginning to delve into my art, I can already say that I have expanded my knowledge of dance technique . In my dance lessons, I have been able to improve upon my body placement and proper alignment. With the help of my instructors, I am able to work towards improving elements I have always struggled with, such as balance. Even outside of class, like auditioning for UOW’s cheer team, I have found that the structure and organisation of these auditions has helped prepare me for audition processes in the real world.

Video : Reacting To Sophia Lucia’s Solos

Category: Entertainment Value

Description : Empathy may be another reason react videos are so easy to watch. Most viral things on the Internet are easily digested, either due to subject matter (the sillier the better) or duration (the shorter the better). React videos are neither the shortest videos online nor are their topics always funny. Instead, their digestibility comes from recognisable emotion. This is what I like to call the “just like me” factor. This is why, in addition to react videos, we love watching proposal videos or watching someone spectacularly wipe out—and why we cry and cringe while doing so. We see ourselves in the person being recorded, and we empathise.
